PFAS - is a class of thousands of persistent, organic fluorinated chemicals added to materials and products mainly to repel stains and water. PFAS has been associated with many adverse human health effects.
Ortho Phthalates - any member of the class of organic chemicals that are esters of phthalic acid and that contain two carbon chains located in the ortho position, often referred to as “phthalates,” are chemicals used in plastic products (most commonly in the specific type of plastic named polyvinyl chloride, also known as PVC or vinyl) to make the material soft and less brittle.
PFOS - Perfluoro-Octane Sulfonate, is a synthetic chemical used to make products resistant to stains, grease, soil, and water. PFOS is part of a class of chemicals called per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). Certain chemicals known as “PFOS salts and transformation and degradation precursors” can break down in the environment into PFOS.
