FREEZING TIP: when you have extra raw milk

Have you ever had an excess amount of raw milk that’s going to go bad faster than you can drink it? Perhaps you wish to buy in bulk for longer-term storage. If so, freezing is an excellent way to preserve our farm-fresh milk.

Here is our most creative way you can use up your excess RAW MILK:

Make your own FROZEN MILK-ICE CUBES

Do not ever, ever throw away raw milk. The milk can be fresh or even if it that has gone a little sour. Souring raw milk is 100% natural and the normal process when raw milk evolves and ages. So, don’t throw it away! FREEZE IT and make your own little smoothie cubes! You can't taste the slight sourness AT ALL when it’s frozen. Our raw milk is unprocessed, whole, and living, with all of its beneficial bacteria. When you freeze raw milk, it does not change its nutritional value. Why use regular ice cubes in your smoothie? “Can I freeze raw milk?”

YES…you can!!

After being frozen, Raw milk will thaw out perfectly, so you won’t be able to tell that it was ever frozen. The freezing process does NOT affect active enzymes, the living bacteria or proteins found in raw milk.  The only slight effect you might notice is related to the fat globules. They may seem to be a little clumped together after being frozen that may require you to shake the thawed raw milk to get the fat back into the mix.  

All freezing leftover raw dairy is something you can do to protect and preserve the product, even if it has gone sour. Should this happen, make raw milk ice cubes as recommended in tip #1!

Make a Smoothie bowl

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Beginning your day with a raw milk or a raw kefir-based smoothie bowl is certainly a breakfast of champions. Simply blend together your leftover raw milk (or raw kefir), and your favorite frozen fruits, and top it off with granola, fresh berries, coconut flakes, or any other toppings of your choice.
